I have a problem with German lawyer/law.
Half year ago, I was looking for an English speaking German lawyer for apply my visa in Germany. And I found a "English speaking Lawyer" on the Internet.
But actually he didn't speak English well. Also this lawyer office charged me a lot of money.
I didn't like them at all and I stopped offering after I paid €350.
I wrote e-mail but they didn't answer back. I gave up to take back these money.
But recently they sent me a letter which is "I'm still work for you. Pay me another €199 till 2nd January 2017".
WHAT?!
This lawyer didn't work for me, but he takes money from me €350+€199!!!!
Do I need to pay money?
I'd like to have some advices if you know about German law!
Thank you.

Was denn, so teuer?

Actually a lawyer is always bound to your instructions.
If you cancel the agreement the agreement is cancelled.
FYI: Usually: If there is no contract about other payments the lawyer is only allowed to request payment per German RVG. Mainly this causes a package price for lawyers activity and measured on the amount in dispute. I personally do not know how to measure visa conflicts.
I found the following website: http://www.ra-schild.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=258:gegenstandswertauslaenderrecht&catid=59&Itemid=86
So a so called 1,3 fee (130 percentage) should be 327,60 €. Look at the following table: http://www.refrago.de/rechtsanwaltsgebuehrentabelle_nach_rvg-ab_01.08.2013.html
But this is only my personal opinion. I even do not know about your problem. Did the lawyer cause his fee in any way? Did he mention "VV" followed by 4 Digits number?
Conflicts about the work quality and payment can be reported to the "Anwaltskammer". But first look at the contract and ask yourself if lawyers work is ok before cancelling. Maybe asking the lawyers Office about the VV numbers should help to clear out.
And there is a second point: If you are in conflict with a German authority and a court agrees your position the German authority will have to give you back the money measured by RVG.
