Shoplifting penalty for foreigner

Hello,
I am not German and I don't speak German and I really hope someone could reply to me in English. I have Meldebestätigung, because I work from/for 4 months here.

Two days ago I committed a very embarrassing act - I got caught in a theft of accessory at price of 22€.
After I gave my passport to the security he called the police, because I didn't have my Meldebestätigung. The policeman asked me to give him my current address. Since I was extremely shocked (I experience this for first and hopefully for last time) I didn't ask about the details I am worrying now. The police got a video and a written report from the security and then informed me that I have to expect a letter from the police.

My contract will be over at the end of the month when I will go back home. From December I won't have a residency in Germany, I won't even have a bank account here. This means that I won't be able to receive the letter. From your forum I understood that for first crime for small amount most likely I will receive a letter with a penalty, but if I am not able to pay it in a week I will have to go to jail.
I would like to pay the penalty (after all I deserve it) but I don't know how this could be possible if I don't know when, how much and to whom to pay, because I won't be able to receive the letter. What I really don't want to happen is to be caught at German airport and to be imprisoned.
I forgot to mention that I am coming from EU country and I am passing by German airports often when I am travelling.

Is it possible the letter to be sent to my home address if I go to the police office and give it to them?
Could I pay the penalty from abroad?
Could you please advice me what will be the best solution in my case.
